WJIII Test Preparation
Basic WJIII: $90 This combination tests comprehension, fluency, and skills in Reading, Math, and Language. Beginning readers may also be tested in Story Recall, Understanding Directions, Picture Vocabulary, and Oral Comprehension.
Basic Plus: $135 We recommend this combination of tests for students during their middle and early high school career. The additional knowledge that you gain from this combination of tests and scores will help you determine your child's readiness for high school and college level work. In addition, your child will be tested in Academic Knowledge (Science, Social Studies, Humanities), Quantitative Concepts, Reading Vocabulary, and Editing. Customized test packages may be arranged to help you acquire information that will help you best meet your student's needs.
AIG Testing: $135 Local public schools refer families to Lighthouse Educational Services when a child needs to retake the Woodcock-Johnson III Test of Achievement to determine placement in the school's academically gifted program. Our consultants are available to administer the WJIII, provide you with immediate feedback, and the school's recquired score reports at a time convenient for your family.
Woodcock-Johnson III Tests of Cognitive Abilities: $70 The student is involved in tests that measure the different aspects of the underlying skills they use while learning. These skills are also known as their cognitive abilities or general intelligence (IQ). The information that you will receive from these tests will help you better underestand how to help your child learn. The broad areas tested include Verbal and Thinking Ability, Cognitive Efficiency, Comprehension-Knowledge (crystallized intelligence), Long-Term Retrieval, Visual-Spatial Thinking, Auditory Processing, Fluid Reasoning, Processing Speed, and Short-Term Memory. Additional tests are available for Phonemic Awareness, Working Memory, Broad Attention, Cognitive Fluency, and Executive Processes. The WJIII is the only test which can give you a joint picture of how your child's brain interacts with new information and what they know. This can be seen when both the achievement and cognitive abilities tests are taken.
Learning Difference: $175 We recommend this combination of tests for students who are struggling with learning to read. Your child will take all the tests listed above and Oral Comprehension, Word Attack, Sound Awareness, Spelling of Sounds, and Picture Vocabulary. A longer consultation providing you with information unique to your child's special learning needs can be arranged with the consultant.
Group Testing: Would you like to bring a Lighthouse Educational Services consultant to your area to work with a group of your friends? Our consultants are available to work with groups of 5 or more students. Discounts are available when ten or more students register to test on the day that you have selected. Each family will receive the same individual attention that you would receive at one of our consultant's homes. We refer to this as "Group Testing" only because a "group" of families have invited us to come and work with their children at a convenient location. Your group can be made up of several friends or a home school co-op.
Group testing is currently being arranged in the following areas for 2011: Boone, Chapel Hill , Durham, Edenton, Garner, Kannapolis , Kernersville, North Raleigh/New Life Camp, Selma , Spring Lake/Fayetteville, and Thomasville, and Wake Forest. Please call the main office for more information.
